The Power in the Name

13 June 2008

My name is Nolitha and it simply means light. A powerful meaning if you ask me, light makes people see clearly, it is the break of day, it reveals things and is associated with the power of God and all its divinity. Even though my mother and my grandmother (dad's mother) didn't get along when I was born somehow she managed to give me such a beautiful and powerful name as her fourth grand child, I sometimes wonder why? I wish I had the opportunity to ask her maybe one day I will. I was told that she said "kwatsho kwakhanya" the meaning is along the line of the is light.

Wherever I go and do my name has been a powerful part of me. My own light shines upon me each day, it gives me revelations and it gets me closer to God whenever I go astray. My name use to scare me once I didn't even live up to its meaning or even understood what it meant. The realisation of knowing who I am has set me free to be great each day and be able to look at myself in the mirror remembering who I am and never be afraid to express myself to the world...and dance to the sound of my uniqueness.

This is my trance...my rhythm...my essence is as beautiful njenge litha lelanga ngonyezi.

Peace
May the light guide you
